Duny is one of a few Korean female music producers out here today. We heard some of her melodic beats through the rap crew Mighty Fine, which she is a member of and also the resident beatmaker. Don't get fooled by her looks, her beats pack a mean punch! The curator Ferd Isaacs of Korean Female Rapper Daily asked her some questions.
Where are you from?
I’m from Seoul, South Korea.
How long have you been making and producing beats?
I have been making beats for two years.
Do you have any formal training in making beats?
I learned to make beats from TK of VMC crew for about 3 months.
Do you play any instruments?
I play piano and guitar.
What is it like being a female music producer in a male dominated industry. What challenges have you faced?
I want to prove that a female producer can make it in the game. There’s no difficulty in being a female producer but sometimes I feel like I wanna share my thoughts or work with other female producers. As you know, in the game where female producers are lacking, it is hard to fulfill what I feel. However, I’m always seeking for skilled female producers to work with and please hit me up on my social media if any of you female producers are interested!
What inspired you to start making beats?
Beenzino inspires me the most. Nothing more has to be said.
What equipment do you use?
I use Yamaha keyboards, M-Audio Speaker, Audio interface, iMac and Macbook.
Any advice you can give any up and coming female producers?
We should not be intimidated by being a female playa in the game with a bunch of male playas. The thing about being a great producer is not about sex but putting one’s own color in the beats.
Who are your favorite producers?
My current faves are Code Kunst, Primary, TK and Groovy Room.
Favorite artists and anybody you want to work with in the future?
My favorite artist is Beenzino, yet Groovy Room is the one that I wanna work with.
What is your date of birth?
I was born on January 16, 1992. Funny thing is our whole crew members were born in January so next month gonna be lit, lol.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
I will be still working with my crew Mighty Fine. Also I hope to work with those artists that I wanted to work with in next five years. Even though I fail to work with them, I will be still spending time creating new music all the time.
