One of the most versatile artists to have come out of the Korean Peninsula is this young lady they call Yon. She raps and sometimes sings. Yon has a strong voice which aids her with a strong and mature delivery. Our curator Herr Ferdy managed to track her down. Here is what this talented rapper had to say.
Where are you from?
I have lived in Korea since I was born. I live in Seoul.
How did you get your rap name?
I thought about a lot of names before. I was thinking I should have a rapname that has my name in it.
So I took only 3 letters from my name, Jung So Yeon and called myself, "YON".
How long have you been rapping?
Since September 2016, so for about 8 month.
What made you start rapping?
Actually I majored in vocal singing, preparing for college. I did not want to go to college because I have to try new things. So I started rapping.
Describe your style of rapping?
Uhm, melodic rap, mainly spit tight rap. In fact, I do not know it well :) It seems a little unusual ... ha ha
Are you part of a crew?
No I'm not but I would love to be part of a crew sometime.
Who are your favorite producers?
Uhm, I never thought about it. Abroad it would be FKJ and Jorja Smith. in Korea, Giriboy, Samuel Seo.
Are you working on new music?
Yes, I think I will release two EP's in this year. In fact, I only finished the song in one day.
Something seems to be of low quality, so I'm going to be working a long time.
In the music industry who do you look up to?
Too much ... If I feel that I am better than myself because I have low self-esteem. I do not know who to vote for.

I really want to make music that I like. I cannot play official music right now. I would like to have an official recording someday.
