Nini Blase has been doing this rap game for the longest. Her energy on stage is infectious and gets the crowd hype. She could be in some peoples top 10 Korean female rapper conversations definitely! we recently had a chance to speak with her ....
Tell us who you are and where you are from?
I’m Nini Blase, born YOU AN JIN, from Daejeon, South Korea.
How did you come up with your name and does have it have any meaning?
My stage name was given to me by my friend Swervy. ‘Nini’ refers to a party girl, while ‘Blase’ reflects my laid-back personality. Although these two aspects may seem contradictory, I believe they capture who I am perfectly.
Describe your style of rapping?
Rather than limiting myself to just being a rapper, I prefer to describe myself as a singer. I rap, sing, and even act by altering my vocal tone when necessary. My focus is on creating verses that fit the beat perfectly.
What inspires you to write new songs?
In the past, I often drew inspiration from other people. I would project myself onto these figures and explore the intersection of their world with mine. These days, I feel like I’m simply telling my own story sharing the thoughts I have and the events I experience.
What year were you born?
I was born on May 12, 1999.
Do you believe in reincarnation?
I’ve never given much thought to reincarnation. Rather than focusing on the afterlife, I try to live in the moment. That’s what drives me to live intensely every day.
What is your favorite Korean meal?
My favorite Korean dish is my mom’s bean-paste stew. With that, I could easily eat three bowls of rice.
Whats your favorite city or country to travel to?
I haven’t traveled to many countries yet, but if I had the chance, I’d love to visit Lagos, Nigeria. It’s a place that requires a formal invitation for Koreans to visit, so I hope someone will invite me.
Are you working on new music?
Yes, despite losing many loved ones and wandering for a long time, I never gave up on music. I’ve created a lot of demos, though I’m still unsure whether my next release will be a full album or a mini-album. But I can confidently say that it will represent the essence of who I am.
Where do you see yourself in five years time.
I hope my life will be quite different from how it is now. I want to travel the world, meet new audiences, and perform on many stages. Performing is truly my calling, and I hope to one day inspire and move people through my shows.
